Barring any last minute issues, we'll be returning to the Amazon River Plume for ANACONDAS part III. This time we'll be aboard the R/V Atlantis, and shipping out mid July. Although the trip will be shorter than the previous trips, with Brazilian cooperation we'll be able to sample nearer to the mouth of the river than we have in the previous trips.
The Carpenter lab duties are similar, measuring dissolved organic carbon, collecting and examining samples of the microalgae community, and running experiments to measure photosynthesis and release of carbon by phytoplankton.
I'll do my best to keep you updated on our participation in this new adventure!
